James Stapleton

499 Project Student

I’m in my 5th & final year of biology here at the University of Waterloo, and am excited to be working on my BIOL 499 thesis project in the Martin lab! I am fascinated by the role proteins play in the development of disease, and enjoy studying them at all levels to help understand where therapeutic intervention can happen. At the lab, I’ll be studying the many roles & regulations Small VCP-Interacting protein (SVIP) plays within multisystem proteinopathy. I’m a big outdoor enthusiast, and enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and gardening. I’m also really into fitness, and play probably a little too much ultimate frisbee. Looking forward to my time in the lab!
